 & Friends Newsletter Hello Health and Human Sciences Alumni and Friends,  =
 I am excited to share that our college has a new name, the College of Heal=
th and Human Sciences! The addition of the word health more accurately desc=
ribes our current programs and reflects a national shift related to describ=
ing the intersection of human sciences and health. The college's history is=
 full of powerful examples where teaching, research, and outreach in the fi=
elds of domestic science, home economics, education, and human sciences hav=
e evolved over time to meet society's needs, many of which are related to i=
mproving the health of individuals, families, and communities. In addition =
to a new name, LeBaron Hall has been demolished and we're looking forward t=
o watching the new building progress over the coming months. Thank you for =
your continued engagement and support that moves the college forward and po=

te University College of Health and Human Sciences=E2=80=99  On Sept. 19, t=
he Iowa Board of Regents approved Iowa State University=E2=80=99s request t=
o rename its College of Human Sciences as the College of Health and Human S=
ciences.   The new name more accurately reflects the college=E2=80=99s rang=
e of academic programs, and the careers pursued by its graduates. The colle=
ge has long offered programs related to disease prevention, nutrition, huma=
n movement, emotional health, financial health and education, among others.=
   =E2=80=9CThe addition of health elevates the excellence happening in tea=
ching, research and outreach that is focused on improving the health and we=
llbeing of people, families and communities,=E2=80=9D said Dean and Dean=E2=

re People who age out of foster care face significant hurdles during the tr=
ansition to independence, but aftercare services can help. A new study from=
 the Human Development and Family Studies department indicates Iowa=E2=80=

A new certification for culinary food science The fall 2024 semester marks =
the first time the culinary food science program is officially certified. A=
 team has been working for the past two years with the Research Chefs Assoc=
